34th Short Courses on Multiphase Flows 2017, ETH, Zürich, Switzerland

»Short Courses on Modelling and Computation of Multiphase Flows« or »Short Courses on Multiphase Flows« is a course that cover the field of multiphase flow, heat transfer and phase changes. The main themes of the course are computational methods and models, which are used for calculations and computer simulations.

The course is divided into three parts, consisting altogether 23 lectures. The first part includes lectures, thus intended to explain the physical basis. The second part offers two possible courses from which participants choose one. The first course deals with the phenomenon of multiphase flows of heat transfer in a nuclear reactor, the second course is dedicated to the models and computational methods in multiphase fluid mechanics. In the third part, commercial codes (software package) for the simulation of multiphase flows are presented. The course also gives many examples in multiphase flows from various industries, focusing on the cases of two-phase flows in the nuclear industry.

The course was for the 34th time organized by the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich. It took place from 13 to 17 February. About 50 listeners attended the course, also Janez Kokalj from the JSI.
