Department contributes to the safe operation of the NPP with expert and advisory work.
Applied projects and professional services have been predominantly connected to the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, GEN Energija, Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration and other partners.
Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration has appointed the JSI as an authorized institution to perform different functions on its behalf related to nuclear safety.
Some of the most important consulting services include the following topics:
- D-4 steam generator tube vibrations;
- SG degradation processes evaluation;
- Technical Specifications;
- Plant emergency operating;
- Evaluation of feedwater system modification;
- Reliability analysis of selected safety systems;
- Development of plant specific models for accident and transient analysis;
- Parametric analysis of large break LOCA, including blowdown,
refill and reflood phase;
- Independent evaluation of the NPP Krško SG plugging criteria;
- Evaluation and recalculation of selected plant transients;
- Development of specific models for the secondary side;
- Development of models for structural analysis of piping and pressure vessels;
- Preliminary analysis of safety margins after steam generators' tube plugging;
- Structural analysis of essential service water system modification.
