On Friday, 24 June 2016 prof. Osamu Motojima visited the Reactor Centre of the Jožef Stefan Institute. He is the former Director-General of the ITER Organisation (2010 – 2015) and is the current President of Future Energy Research Association. The guest was welcomed by the Director of the Jožef Stefan Institute prof. Jadran Lenarcic and by the head of the Slovenian Fusion Association, dr. Bostjan Konca, Reactor Engineering Division, who presented the Institute’s activities in the field of nuclear fusion. Through the discussion with JSI researchers prof. Motojima was acquainted with broad international involvement and main achievements of Slovenian fusion research as well as with the challenges posed by impaired research funding from national public resources. Prof. Motojima also visited an ion beam accelerator, where the plasma-wall interaction studies are being carried out.
