The Nuclear Materials Conference (NuMat) has become since its first realization in 2010 an international forum for the meeting in the field of exploration of nuclear materials for fission and fusion reactors and materials related to the nuclear fuel cycle.
This year's conference Numat 2016 had 8 theme sections from the field of nuclear fuel, structural materials, molten salts and materials related to the management of nuclear waste. Around 500 contributions were presented, almost half in the form of lectures (of which 10 plenary) and slightly more than half in the form of posters.
The Numat Conference 2016, which was organized by CEA and Elsevier in Montpellier, was attended by dr. Samir El Shawish from the Reactor Engineering Division, JSI. In the section Modeling and simulation of structural materials, he presented a poster entitled "Intergranular Stress Distributions and Polycrystalline Aggregates of Irradiated Stainless Steel", which summarizes the results of the article published in the Journal of Nuclear Materials.
